An animal adult, whether human or non-human, is a creature that has developed in all its potential. In the context of humans, the term "adult" may mean something connected to social or legal ideas. Legal adult means a person is at the point of maturity. They are considered autonomous, self-sufficient as well as responsible. Sometimes referred to as "majors", they can also be said as having reached the age of adulthood. It is generally accepted that the threshold at which an individual becomes a legal adult is 18. It is possible for this to be different based on rights under the law and countries as well as psychological development.

The period of human development in which full mental and physical maturity has been reached. Commonly, adulthood begins around age 21 or 20. The middle age begins at around 40 years and is followed by the elderly age of 60. The three main stages of adulthood are the early years (from mid-30s to late-60s), middle adulthood from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood (mid-60s through end of life). As we enter the initial stages of adulthood (between 20-40) the bodies of our children are at their peak of maturity, even though our height and weight might increase a bit. Our physical capabilities are peaking in young adulthood. This includes muscle strength and reflex speed, as well as sensors, and the heart's function.
